How To Succeed In Business

Today i'm gonna talk about the business success cycle and to help me here i've grown a little diagram in attached video this is the business success cycle and in addition to that first of all the business success cycle always starts with goals there your goals the use that and again he this is going to be different than what a lot of people do because well everybody breakdown below and i will be no different from that you start by writing and your goals he starred by setting them then what happens is is that you have resources available to you and we'll go into detail on these in a minute but these resources and your goals argues together and then you interact with people and services and these resources you you put them together to interact and then once you have interactions with these resources and goals then you'll have success now success doesn't always come the way you think it will uh... but you'll get some measure of success this is your feedback and then of course to your goals are adjusted accordingly or new ones are set or however you choose to do that and then you combine that with your new resources because every time you have interactions you get a new resources and the new interact with those and you have another success and so it continues like this process continues until you ultimately reach whatever goals you want to reach the biggest goals of all so retired a little bit about that so remember there's gold resources interactions and success um... let's talk about each one of these things and some detail now uh... let's talk about goals uh... as i mentioned every successful endeavor every successful endeavor uh... begins with a goal now of gold is not written down is only a reaction as i mentioned before you wanna write these goals down uh... you understand that uh... or i should say uh... when you understand what you want from your business uh... this will help you identify it uh... the type of business that you need to start uh... when you factor in some of your resources such as your skills your talents uh... perhaps you have money uh... or not then uh... you begin to hone in on your goals accordingly was part of our resources for saket when you consider your business goals you begin dot uh... identify and inventory those things that you have that you have information did you have intellectual property if you have relationships with people their uh... that you could make profitable uh... maybe you have access to capital maybe have a certain type of equipment or training uh... you identify these things new catalog them uh... and you also look at the things you don't have the things that you need uh... in this process may help you choke it down into uh... smaller goals or sub goals uh... next you have your interactions that was the piece of the bottom uh... once you've been in kuwait all your resources and you're ready to go out meet with people and you begin to gather the additional things that you need uh... you might begin attracting customers if you're not far along but be aware this is where you need to be able to sell your concept were your product or service to others this is where people are going to ask you uh... some very challenging questions about what you hope to do and if they're going to introduce the elements of doubt you need to be prepared you need to have a little bit of a thick skin uh... you need to anticipate these questions uh... you need to think through and develop the skills uh... to finger on your feet and um... he and his big questions and uh... have the answer is ready to go uh... regarding those issues that people me bring up and then you're gonna always get questions for things that you didn't bingo and this is the good part because that's what's going on build your value propositions was convicting therefore you and uh... make you stronger and in the last one over here where success okay now let's look at success in other way mccain some people look at success is having a reach their goal hundred-percent or have a a having uh... you know made a lot of money or what have you was redefined success if you have jected we review the feedback that you get even if you do don't think you reach your goal you're now in a situation where you can identified uh... new goals uh... you can modify the ones you made you can scrap the idea and start over you know it really doesn't matter at this point the the key is is that you take that the back which is success set new goals and start over you don't need siding is is is that uh... as you continue from one cycle for the next uh... always improving you are being successful for that is the very definition of success success is the method a lot methodology cold winter again them at the top method methodical there's the word i'm trying to say the methodical progression toward a worthy goal success is not just the arrival at your goal is the process it's the uh... it's the goals the resources the interactions that process that you take uh... to arrive at your goals that define your success a lot of times during these videos i'm going to think of something that is probably a little less technical and maybe deals a little bit more with mindset on the combine a lot of mindset discussion or concepts with the technical that that i introduced through these videos and and so do indulge me i have a inspirational note here uh... for you because not everyone is going to reach their goals on the first trip around the city business success cycle and it's really easy to quit uh... if you've if you're feeling frustrated or discourage in some way here's a thought were actually it's a poem written by robert w service and idle presenting it to you because i hope it'll carry through you through the tough times the the times that you uh... will no doubt face if they haven't begun already the poem is called carry-on it's an easy to fight when everything's right in your mad with the thrill in the glory it's easy to cheer when victories near and and wallowing feels their quarry it's a different saw when everything's wrong when you're feeling informally moral but it's tend to look at when its tenth one and it will be reason but with a lot but got little soldier informal carry-on carry-on there isn't much punch in your blow your glittering and staring in hitting up blind your body and blood in had never you money carry-on you happen to goes to the show it's looking like death but while you were breath carry on my son carry-on and so when the strike in the battle of life it's easy to fight when you're winning it's the easiest way instar and be brave when the dawn of success is beginning but the men who can meet despairing defeat women's sheer with this year there's the man of god choosing but then you can fight to heaven zone height is the man who can fight wheezing carry-on carry-on things never were looming so black but they'll you haven't a cowardly street and know you are lucky you never are weak carry-on carry-on very separate another attack it's looking like hell but you never can tell carry-on old man carry-on there are some would drift out in the desert sand out and some will improve issues while there are others i know who imparted ego because of the heaven but to labor was destined to give it your best for the sweetness enjoy the giving to help us along with a hand in the sun why there's the real sunshine within carry-on carry-on fight the good fight and true be leaving your mission greet life with each year your big work to do and that's why you're here carry-on carry-on but the world a better for you and at last when you die let this be your cry carry on my soul.

Steve Jobs PISSED OFF Moments

My camera is not turning on! what's that? I did slide and let go not turning on ... here we'll let an expert to see if he can turn it on our networks in here are always unpredictable so terrible... have no idea what we're gonna find they are slow today you know you can help me out if you're on wifi if you could just get off [laugh] I'd appreciate it we're having a little problem here we've figured out why my demo crashed because there are 570 wifi base stations operating in this room ... okay? we can't deal with that so we have two choices either I've got some more demos that really great that I'd like to show you so we either turn off all the stuff and see the demos or we give up and I don't show you the demos would you like to see the demos or not? OK, so here's the deal lets turn up the lights in the hall several hundred of these are mifi things too by the way so all you bloggers need the turn off your base stations turn off the wifi every note book I'd like them to put put him down on the floor and all you look around I'd like you to police each other if you want to see the demos shut all your laptops turn off all these mifi base stations and put them on the floor please come on, look around you I mean I'm I'm not you know I think bloggers have a right to walk but if we want to see the demos we're not gonna be able to do it unless we turn off all these mifi base stations and laptops set them on the floor I've got time [laugh] I really want your WiFi devices off are they off? please term off if you've turned them back on were making mistakes we're fixing them as fast as we can and... what happens sometimes though is that some people lie, some people use unpublished APIs and they're apps get rejected some people submit an app that they says that say does one thing but really does something else they try to hide it from us they get very clever about that they try to hide it from us and we find it we reject it and they were run to the press and they tell the press the story about oppression and it gets written up and they get their 15 minutes of fame because they hope it will convince us to to change our minds which it never does but they keep trying to do that, and... it's unfortunate but we take it in the chin that's part of what we do and we don't run to the press and go this guy's a sob liar and we went through the roof about this so we said no we're not going to allow this this is violating our privacy policies and it's pissing us off but they're publishing data about our new products and you guys have to stop making me blind or I'm gonna fall off the stage here like Bob Dole can I ask you to stop using flashes for a while that'd be great I can hardly see anymore you know I can't see when you do that thanks, so maybe later could we do some more that really helped me you know I could hear a lot of phones beeping so can we just take a minute maybe everybody could put the silencer on their phones thank you.

How Much Are The Obamacare Tax Penalties?

A common question we hear in our Customer Care Center is, "How much are the tax penalties for not having health insurance and when do they apply?" The tax penalties go into effect in 2014, which means if you're uninsured for more than three months in 2014, you may incur the tax penalty and that penalty would be applied when you file your 2014 income tax return. If you don't qualify for an exemption, the Affordable Care Act's mandate to purchase qualifying health coverage, then you will be subject to a tax penalty. The penalty is phased in over a three year period. In 2014, the penalty will be the greater of one percent of taxable income. Or $95 per adult and $47.50 per child, up to $285 per family. In 2015, the penalty will be the greater of 2 percent of taxable income, or $325 per adult and $162.50 per child, up to $975 per family. In 2016, the penalty will be at the greater of 2 and a half percent of taxable income, or $695 per adult and $347.50 per child, up to $2,085 per family. After 2016, the penalty will be increased annually by the increase to the cost of living. Households with incomes above 400 percent of federal poverty level, will be exempt from paying tax penalties if insurance in their area costs more than 8 percent of their taxable income, after taking into account employer contribution or tax credits. People will be able to apply for exemptions to the tax penalties if- 1. They have financial hardships. 2. Religious objections. 3. If they're an American Indian. 4. If they're uninsured for less than three months. 5. If they're an undocumented immigrant. 6. If they're incarcerated. And if you have questions, you can always give us a call.

How Health Insurance Works

how does health insurance work imagine you have a one hundred thousand dollar heart surgery which is the covered medical expenses under your health insurance plan and let's say this health insurance plan has a one thousand dollar annual deductible 20 percent coinsurance after deductible a two thousand dollar out-of-pocket limit and a two million dollar annual limit on your health insurance coverage in this video will explain how these different components of a health insurance policy work before we begin it's important to note that any health insurance policy purchased after September 23rd 2010 will not have a lifetime maximum limit on most to the plan benefits and any health insurance policy purchased after january first 2014 will not have an annual limit on most platinum the first thing we'll talk about in this video is a deductible what is a deductible typically a deductible is the amount of money you must pay each year before your health insurance plan starts to pay for covered medical expenses so with a one hundred thousand dollar heart surgery bill you are responsible for paying the first one thousand dollars after this one thousand dollar deductibles met the insurance company will pay percentage up the bill and you will pay the car insurance let's talk about coinsurance what is car insurance typically coinsurance is a cost-sharing requirements where you are responsible for paying a certain percentage and the insurance company will pay the remaining percentage up the covered medical expenses after your deductibles met for health insurance plan 20 percent coinsurance one-third deductibles met the insurance company will pay eighty percent of the covered expenses Mon you pay the remaining 20 percent until your out-of-pocket limit reached for the year what is in at a pocket limit typically the out-of-pocket limit is a maximum amount you will pay out of your own pocket for covered medical expenses in a given year for a plan with a two thousand dollar out-of-pocket limit you will pay a one thousand dollar deductible and one thousand dollar coinsurance while the insurance company covers the remaining ninety thousand dollars a heart surgery bill even if you're hospitalized again in the same here the insurance company will pay 100 percent be covered expenses until you reach your annual coverage limits what is an annual coverage limits some health insurance plans place dollar limits upon the claims and insurance company will pay over the course of a plan here so if you bought an insurance policy with an effective date of July 2011 your plan year was run from July 2011 until June 2012 if you have an annual coverage limits two million dollars and you have medical bills that cost more than two million dollars during your plan year you would be responsible for paying those bills at aviano pocket once your new plan your begins in July 2012 your deductible coinsurance out-of-pocket limit an annual coverage limits would all reset an insurance company would once again begin to pay your cover claims beginning September 23rd 2010 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act health care reform begins to phase out annual dollar limits starting on September 23rd 2012 annual limits on health insurance plans must be at least a two million dollars by 2014 no new health insurance plan will be permitted to have an annual dollar limits on most covered benefits some health insurance plans purchased before March 23rd 2010 have what is called grandfather status health insurance plans with grandfathered status are exempt from several changes required by health care reform including this phase out annual limit on health coverage here's one more concept you should be familiar with some health insurance plans offer co-payments what is the copayment typically a copayment for copay is a specific flat fee you pay for each medical service such as thirty dollars for an office visit after the thirty dollar copay the insurance company pays remainder the covered medical charges sometime subject to the deductible and coinsurance certain recommended preventive services immunizations and screens are covered with no cost-sharing copayment on health insurance plans purchased after March 23rd 2010 let's say you're not feeling well and went to see your doctor who charges two hundred dollars for the office visit if your insurance plan has an office visit copayment up thirty dollars the new only be responsible for the thirty dollars and the insurance company will cover the remaining one hundred and seventy dollars but if you purchased your health insurance policy after March 23rd 2010 and you're due for routine preventive care screening like a mammogram or a colonoscopy you may be able to receive that screen without making a copayment you can talk to your insurer or your license key health insurance agent if you need help determining whether or not you qualify for screening without a copay there are five important changes that occurred with individual and family health insurance policies on September 23rd 2010 those changes are added protection from rate increases insurance companies will need to publicly disclose any rate increases and provide justification before raising your monthly payments added protection from having insurance canceled an insurance company cannot cancel your policy except in cases of intentional misrepresentations or fraud coverage for preventive care certain recommended preventive services immunizations and screens will be covered with no cost-sharing requirements no lifetime maximums on health coverage no lifetime limits on the dollar value those health benefits deemed to be essential by the Department of Health and Human Services no pre-existing condition exclusions for children if you have children under the age of 19 with pre-existing medical conditions their application for health insurance cannot be defined due to pre-existing medical condition in some states a child may need to wait for the state open enrollment period before the application can be approved if you have questions that were not covered by this video please contact license key health insurance agent at one eight hundred 977 eighty six-year.

How To Make A Business Plan Successfully

The I 0 hi this is so new John and just wanna show you this video How I Met Yap my goals and my business plan soul becoming yup now but this great little tool Yahoo I'm on map and basically proceeds to met yeah arm things in terms in kind of like that as a tree would map out I guess so is the trunk is one with the branches and he's smaller branches and as we go out you see it becomes mo muna school smaller so you mentioned he is the highest level objective and that's what we want to get to that said big gold a it might be to make cinematic money it might be too travel to a certain places might be too why something all to meet someone new whatever it might be that sell I'll highest level target and then from that withdrawal it broken down into small chunk sizes say in this example look bright magenta four quarters yeah like to break things down its four corners makes it more manageable and then what you can do so it would not be gold yup this might be Siri let's say make a million dollars okay so we've got a big ol and what we want to do is break it down into our four quarters and then we won't work backwards from the coarser closest to the end goal which is to be full courtrooms case so let's say for example happy girl is to might world million dollars then lets say now or scored a goal was superior ok my 300 sales and solos for example we've got when would say core 3 let's say we need to write 300,000 well it's a quarter sir we need serious my sure Shiki Rutledge's score one right one 20 so we're just assuming that business is building up over the year and you don't have to do it this way you could have had 250 250 250 250 I like to always expand things easy and improved and writer and sorry this is whether I like to sit out so you'd send out a big chunk is hopefully at moments in or three installed including 1&2 now from me up we get that we can say I'm up 12 goal might be some money 100 tasseled and many I'm love levin like be some 800,000 et cetera et cetera case and now we've got and one that with all had goals for each corner work goals for each month now was we've got a breaking down we will see its moral manageable chop saws yeah what we can start to do is all each month so now we can work clockwise the phone working any coke was to break down you set goals now say each 10 days water for who teenax inmates what you need to do with Ginny so land we may just start queuing you need to stop doing and each one of these is we need to stop doing to reach your call we need to stop doing to reach you go we need to make to reach your goal we need to do to reach you go we need to learn to reach a goal units and me to reach your monthly call was just couple here one is need to continue in and fun unity slow so really in relation to getting golbright just to make sure that you are doing something the case a cupful keeps you happy keeps you motivated and on track which indirectly will help you to reach you go yup now under age 1 ladies we can branch out again send me today me too Klein tried to meet clients week for Spartans under five new clients bigger who twenty HD to get those spot for us needs to Ron AdWords size Nate serious say for example seen your conversion rate per client was fifty percent that means you need to had send me deals with personals so you can use the breaking down breaking down and so from here brightness down to but really managed switch on so I was little but all the steps layup and now this might take your time might take you sure day or two some on map out these once you've got these use but every single toss and go lay yeah you need to do you to get GOP goal yeah so the needs and laying here might be me to land to manage people need to land to the best sales person need to learn to speak in public need to learn to do videos need to learn truck sales copy me to learn how to do a Google AdWords made to learn whatever it might be said help you reach your goal for the month and for the quarter the main thing to keep in mind with all of these things is they only to be pointing in the same direction of the big goal sorry for example if you're big goal was to remove yourself from the business at into the twelve months wall reaching a financial targets then you wouldn't be creating more jobs yourself here you wouldn't be trying to learn way but the lead you wouldn't be tryna lenin had two outputs you will be trying to land how to write hockey you wouldn't be trying to land had a beautiful website you be learning to manage people had a high people had it influence people How To Write A Business Plan

Starting a business? Then you'll need a plan - a road map, taking you on the straightest, fastest route to where you want to go. Your business plan will include 6 sections and will help you think through your business idea, making sure you've covered all the angles and eventualities, before you set off. The first section is the executive summary. Presenting an overview of your business, this section is vital as many investors make judgements about your business based on it alone! A great tip is to leave this section until last to write. Once you have written the others, you'll find it easier to do, as it will be a summary of the key points you make in the other sections. So start with your business details - provide a short description of who you are, what you plan to sell, why and to whom. Include the location of your business, identify key employees and any other qualities that make your business stand out. Now, enter your marketing and sales strategy - show that you've done your homework, that you understand your target market. Outline why you think people will buy what you want to sell and detail how you plan to sell to them. Then add in your management team and personnel - people reading your plan need to believe and have trust in the management of your business, so outline your credentials and the people you plan to recruit. Then detail your setup - explaining what facilities the business will have, from your premises to your management information systems and IT. And explain how it will deliver the product or service to the customer. Lastly, list your financial plan and projections - this part translates everything you've said in the previous sections into numbers. It will tell you whether the business will be worthwhile or whether you're wasting your time and/or money. Your business plan will change as your business grows. It'll help keep you focused, so you'll know where you are and where you're supposed to be, so that you can correct your course as needed. Here are our 5 top tips: Keep it brief: If it takes too long to write, it'll take too long to read! Get rid of the fluff: Cut the waffle and just get to the point! Be realistic: Be honest and note all the challenges facing your business. Use visuals: Graphs, charts, and images can help bring your idea to life, and; Be creative: So that your business stands out and grabs attention. And for a bit of extra help, download a business plan template from the Business Wales website. So there you have it, plan your route to make sure you reach your destination!

How To Run A Successful Small Business, Part 2

we're ready to get started on part two but be sure to watch part 1 first if you haven't done that yet use the link on this page now that you've got the right people hired how do you make sure they get started well well you have to acclimate them to the way you do business you gotta give them training and resources to help them become successful as individuals and when I talk about acclamation you need to introduce them into your business even if for somebody has twenty years have skills and experience that fit with you need them to do they've been doing it in other work environments other cultures they need to be acclimated to your culture so you need somebody to hang with them to make sure that they get started correctly until that person that's responsible for acclimating them into your business is comfortable that they're doing at least eighty percent of the stuff on their own so they need to learn how to do things your way they need to learn the specific skills technology systems that you have that help operate your business if there are certifications and licenses that are needed they need to be guided through those or to bring them was are along with them from previous experience are learning how to sell for everybody is a great soft skill and we're gonna talk more about that effective communication helps people get things done faster and I am with better understanding managing time effectively helps people produce more in a given period of time then don't than those that don't manage their time well and part of that is being well-organized so those things need to be considered in addition to help these people be successful as individuals you gotta given the right tools the right equipment the right materials the right technology that will allow them to do their work and produce the results you expect from them efficiently and effectively and your business needs to be filled with opportunities for your employees there should be opportunities for personal growth so they can get better at what they do and and as individuals arm there needs to be opportunities for contribution just that quick interesting statistic the main reason that good people leave a business is because they don't feel they're being allowed to contribute and there's gotta be opportunities for advancement there's gotta its promotions and there's gotta be opportunities for them to earn more money so once they're hired once you have the right people to begin the process these are all the things that you need to consider and have in place to help them become successful as individuals and contribute greatly to your business success okay structure is next the interesting thing about all its human beings is that we desire to things that are directly opposed to one another one is freedom we want to be free to do things our way to to have the opportunity to make decisions that sort of thing and the other structures we all need to know the rules in up the game or the business in which we play for example a football field has a structure and rules a basketball court has a structure in basketball has rules chessboard in the game a chess has a structure and rules can you imagine driving down an interstate freeway that didn't have any structure no lane markers no off-ramps we need structure and all good businesses have a very well-thought-out well-designed structure so what's included we need clear and complete job descriptions people need to know what's expected of them in their job in and its the specifics of how they're supposed to achieve those expectations we need clear and complete policies and procedures those things that guy the employees while they're doing their work I'm a big systems guy everything needs clear and complete systems can you imagine taken off in an airplane that didn't have a good system for lowering and contracting the landing gear how bout a air circulation system how about a navigation system that airplane would not be very trustworthy to me if it didn't have good systems all good businesses also need good systems there needs to be clear expectations based on results the employees need to know what's expected of them the results that they're supposed to produce and even though there are activities attached to every job to achieve results if in employee wasn't hired to produce results then there's really no need to hire them are there should be measurements that are related to the results and that's very easy in things like athletics for example a 250 hitter achieves a certain level results for 350 hitter does better so you need to have the same type of standards measurements within your business as it relates to the results in a few have the expectations and the standards of measurement setup focused on results then you get objective job reviews the people no what's expected of them and how they're contributing and whether or not they're doing their work well so make sure that your business is well structured monitor that structure regularly and improve it whenever it needs to be improved but remember be structured okay what else needs to be considered when you're building and growing a successful business how about money the main reason that you should be in business is to make money so you can make payroll do research and development take your family contribute to worthwhile causes contribute in the community money is the main reason but you also need money from different points of view for example you may need some startup capital you may need some operating capital to you get going in get your income up to where it should be as a matter fact the main reason most businesses fail this they just haven't got enough start-up and operating capital to keep them going until they get into a point to profitability so be it that's very important to have cash flow management this system remember I'm a big systems guy this is the most important system within a business you have to have a great cash flow management system what's come in and what's going out how are you using about risk management you don't want to do things are going to jeopardize the success your business so you need permits possibly you may need licenses there maybe fees that you have to pay there may be regulations and compliance that you have to follow yeah I know it's a big interference in a big hassle but it is what it is so you need to learn about these things and how to take care if your business with in these requirements you need insurance to protect yourself and your employees and you need to decide what's the best formal structure for your business is it a Corporation is an LLC if it is a corporation is that sub src court you just need to make all these decisions and they need to be made and made well to contribute to the success of your business just couple more things and we'll have the complete package everything you need to do and no to build and grow a successful business one extremely important ingredient one of those pieces and parts I talked about is committed engaged leadership whoever's running the show whoever's the leader the business has to be a daily example of what the business is all about and how everybody should behave during the operation at this so I have a committed leader that's fully engaged in the process there has to be monitoring and evaluation on a regular basis are we doing things as good as we can do on is there a way to improve them do we need to change in a little bit do we need to eliminate them do we need to add something else continuous monitoring and evaluation and at all should be focused on continuous improvement how can we get better how can we deliver what we deliver better how can we satisfy our customers better and when you put this entire package together and you've got it done right some magic happens on my show you that on the neck sheet here on the easel okay I talked about magic happening once you have your business totally put together everything that we just talked about it's done it's done right and your operating it well then the magic begins and here's what happens here's the results that you get you get employees you get customers you get business relationships you know those people that supply you products are offer you services like bankers and accountants and attorneys and vendors and contractors that sort of thing and you get the community all saying great things about you have you ever been in a grocery store line and had somebody in front you complaining about the place they work for complaining about some place that they did business that's negative conversation in the community you want positive conversation in the community because it attracts people to you when people say good things about who you are what you do why you do it the way you do it in your employees and your customers in the people that do business within the entire community our fans have what you do employees lineup because they want to work with you customers come to your store because they want to do business with you based on all the good news that they heard other people want to do business with you they want to be suppliers they want to be consultants they want to help you and the entire community is gonna say great things about you so when you get this business built correctly and when you operated correctly you create a conversation in the community that just can't do anything but help your business grow and become successful I'm not talking a little bit more about this entire package in just a minute lot information right well it's all on video so you can replay the video if you want you can pause it take notes but you got everything that you need to know to build grow and operate a successful small business whether you're just getting started or you've got a business that you want to operate more business uprising I think it's time that we had a small business a uprising in this country we need more successful small businesses we need more private-sector employment we need to keep our country How to Run a Successful Small Business, Part 1

hi my name's Brian Silverthorne I'm a business coach into making this video specifically for those people who are responsible for the success of a small business so that's for business owners in two categories those owners that want to grow their businesses and increase the profits consistently and those owners who might be getting their business is ready for sale so they can make a more valuable in the marketplace it's also for managers and executives who are fully or partially responsible for the success of a business and it could be for those people who are considering buying a small business or starting a small business I've been a big fan of small businesses since I was very young I first my first jobs were in small businesses the local delicatessen auto parts store the sporting good store I did have an opportunity to work for bigger businesses and factories the money was great there but didn't like the politics that well I'd like the small business aspect in small businesses quite frankly are the backbone up this economy and if we're going to keep this economy chugging along and get a growing we need more small businesses and we need successful small businesses as a matter fact small businesses employees more than half up the total workforce in this country so if you back out the government employees government agency employees they probably employees they probably employees about 70 to 75 percent above the up the private sector workforce they contribute about happen the gross domestic product here in the United States and in addition small businesses and small business owners have a very high level of trust in all the surveys in the consuming public so small businesses are the key to our success now there the key to our success as we go on into the future and there's a way to make sure that your small business is running well structured well and growing consistently and by the way if you're curious about why I am making this video on this beautiful gazebo that's right in the middle a big vineyard and winery I'll tell you more about that as we get toward the end to this video so right now let's get started on all the pieces and parts that go into making a very successful small business before you get started not talking about the information on this flip chart here I want to tell you a little bit more about my experience with small businesses as I mentioned when I was going to high school and college I worked for small businesses but as life progressed I had the opportunity to manage a small business for an absentee owner I also worked as a salesperson and its sales manager for a small business I also started in grew a small business up my own very successfully and for the past 20 years I been working as a coach and consultant with employers who had anywhere from five to a few thousand employees so I've been fully entrenched in the small business market and as I said early on I love small businesses we need more successful small businesses so I started out by talking to business owners just randomly and also those that I work with said okay you have a small business why a did you decide to go into a small business or what do you want the small business to accomplish for you and everything that they told me fit into wannabes four categories one is freedom they may be wanted the freedom to do the work that they were doing for somebody else in their own way they wanted the freedom to spend time with their families they wanted the freedom to explore other things in their lives and make their own decisions but they wanted freedom secondly they wanted a sensible accomplishment they we may want to build that business so that their family can carry it on or so that it makes the mark in the community or so that it can be a valuable asset to sell going on down the road but they wanted to accomplish something important to them thirdly they wanted some money they wanted to be responsible for their own income so that they could they could enjoy the freedoms they hope to to work create and do other things travel spend time with family whatever it might happen to be and thirdly they wanted the whole thing to be fun if you're going to do all this is going to work hard and you're gonna X pressure freedoms and and make accomplishments and earn money it's much better if you're having a good time doing it so they wanted fun the unfortunate circumstances most to the business owners I talk to agreed that this is what they wanted but very few of them accomplished all for these and the primary reason is because building a business is a specific skill set and they had not either had the time or made the time or had the money so that they could learn and because a bad they were kinda like driving a car that's not tuned up very well it spits and sputters and you gotta have periodic maintenance and you get where you're going on but it's not a very fun drive and it takes a much longer than you should so 1 I'm gonna talk to as i said before today is about the pieces and parts that go together to make a smooth running business that you can operate and have freedom accomplished thanks make money and have fun in the process so what do you need in general to do to accomplish these four things well you have to have efficient an effective operations and we're going to talk about how you get each in one of these each and every one of these as we go you gotta have consistently increasing profits you got to have growth nothing is static usually we there are shrinking or growing and you have to have a quick and accurate response for the market if it changes like right now our market just changed drastically in the last couple years those businesses that were prepared did much better than those that weren't so that's where we're going to get started everything I talk to I talk to you about here from this point forward will be to help you accomplish these four things so you can achieve these things as a business owner so stay tuned all right as I mentioned there are a lot of pieces and parts that go into building a good small business but if you're a small business employer your employees are probably your biggest expense they're also your biggest asset they could be your biggest source of frustration and even though the have all those three components they are the number one key to your success your employees are the people that touch everybody else that you do business with internally and externally and how well those interactions go are going to greatly affect the success of your business so to have a successful business as a relates to your employees your employees need to be happy they need to look forward to come into work they need to enjoy what they're doing they need to care about the business that you're in and the products and services that you offer the need to be happy doing their jobs they need to be productive there are some statistics that show that the average American worker only works to fifty or sixty percent of his or her capacity and there are reasons for that and it doesn't really have anything to do with the intelligent or skill up the employees but will get into those things also they need to watch to actually want to help your business be successful that means that they're gonna contribute much more positively and much more consistently they need to want to help you grow and succeed and it all boils down to fit you've got to get the right people that fit with what you have to offer and how you offer it and how you operate your business every day so we're going to take a look at next at how you make sure you get employees that fit well with your business okay so how do we find employees that fit well with your business those that are going to contribute to your success will it all boils down to the recruiting and hiring process now to make this process a very effective takes a little time in preparation but once you have it done it's a done and believe me based on the conversations that I've had with business owners hiring the wrong person can be a very expensive and very frustrating process are both during the hiring process and on into the work environment so you wanna make sure you do it right the first time or at least maximize your potential love doing it right first time so what are the things that need to be considered well in the interview process you're gonna have to talk about how well they fit so they need to fit the job requirements the specific duties and responsibilities and results that you expect the person you're hiring to produce they also have to be a good match with the purpose of your business why are you in business other than making money what do you want to accomplish what do you see for your business going in the future they gotta be a good fit with that they also have to fit the values and the principles and the standards that guide your business so they know what they're doing some writers are doing something wrong or they're doing something your way they need to be a good fit with that you also have to have a management style that focuses on things that help people become successful as individuals because the greater the individual success the greater the business success if you have people that are successful on their own within a business they're gonna contribute to the success of your business and remember these are the people that want to help you become successful so gotta have a management style that teaches that coaches that can mentor with that's needed but can help the people grow as individuals and can guide them in the process of doing their work so these are all the things that you got to think about and put together when you're designing it recruiting and hiring process that's it for part one lots a great stuff but there's more be sure to check out part 2

What Is General Liability Insurance And How Much Do I Need?

the hi my name's Tim gaspard gaspard church services we insure small and midsize businesses and handle their insurance needs today I'm going to talk a little bit about general liability insurance what exactly it is and how much you need is a business owner having general liability insurance is the absolute basis have any insurance I would say if you could only afford to have one insurance I think for most businesses general liability would be the insurance they would get is the absolute foundation to having your business insurance in place essentially general liability insurance as a protection and you have in the event you're responsible your business is responsible for causing damage to a person or to property in this can happen in a number of different ways one the most common is when a vehicle accident let's say wanted your company trucks get into an accident hit somebody damage their car and let's say they get injured if they file a lawsuit against you that's covered and your general liability insurance along same lines let's say your manufacturing a product of some kind let's say for instance here pistachio distributor if you distribute pistachios and the people that eat them and getting sick let's say you could soon a class action lawsuit for your product hurting somebody that also falls under general liability insurance so as you can see it can cover a few different scenarios that can be extremely important in protecting your business in the event a lawsuit like this occurs now when it comes to how much general liability insurance you need there's a couple things that can dictate exactly how much coverage you wanna get from most people special you're first starting out in business usually this is going to be dictated by your landlord or the vendors that you do business with when you move into a new place whether be in office a retail store warehouse generally speaking your landlord's going to ask for at least one million dollars per occurrence and two million dollars aggregate just to get started and what those limits mean is that any single lawsuit or claim that you file you're going to have one million dollars with the coverage for that single courage that happens if you're unlucky enough to have two occurrences within a single year or more the policy's going to cap out at the aggregate another keeping you want to look at when in regards to how much insurance you get is how much your vendors want you to have let's say you're a clothing distributor if you do business with the clothing stores across a Nordstroms for instance they might require you to have four five million dollars in general liability insurance because they want to make sure they're protected in the event something wrong happens with your product so even if you're a small business unless they don't have a whole lotta bass says you might have to get a lot of coverage just to make the people you do business with satisfied with the type of insurance that have now also in regards to figuring out how much general liability insurance you should have certainly the limit on your insurance should grow as your business grows I'm same gas par with gas fire insurance for business dot com making sure that you have the right business insurance coverage for the right price way

How To Start A Business With No Money

the hey guys its trend here from the online income what happened today I wanna give you what was given to me in terms of business advice number years ago had a profound influence on my life however time that I was given the advice I was the dumbest thing I've ever heard here it is the best way to succeed in business is to be in business and I thought while thanks Dick Tracy that's really profound because I really didn't get it and years later it made a lot of sense to me and from this piece of advice I created what I call my Green Dot theory so bear with me as I explain this to you I'll because I think it's going to make a lot of sense and hopeless gunfire you okay so when you first come up with your idea maybe it's for an authority cider any kinda business you're thinking of unique and yourself hey I'm gonna go out there and you rate this business plan or whatever and I'm gonna sell green dots and I'm gonna be like the best green dot sales guy or the best green dot business at the best green dot website ever and you go out and you in you probably stock and so that's kinda disappointing and one of the things that people do is they give up and that's really sad when that happens in a course that's gonna prevent you from going on having success however some other people don't give up and some other people they go oh I should probably have more colors for this so they go out and they discover and I'm in a row to coerce organs gonna do accordion green and red dot but you get the idea they discover as a byproduct tryna figaro how to sell more green dots they discover these things that there's there's like a Red Dot opportunity out there and so they kinda scrap what they were doing here and now they adjust their business to Gordon's already dots and things get a bit better now when they were over here coming up with their business plan they didn't even know it red dots existed but they're still not doing very well they're just kinda scraping by and you know not great however what happens is at this point they discover anything they don't have enough for workers docs are I'm going to modify my doctorate live rating on camera they discover green squares and so they again adjust the business model and now they start selling green squares and business picks up a little bit more and now when they start selling their green squares like I say business picks up but they're still not achieving the level of success that they want so now while there out there trying to figure out how to sell more green squares they discover that there are in fact or their is in fact and opportunity two starts on red triangles again back here you had no idea red triangles even exist and so when you finally get so when they're when they're here now business is picking up again and as you can see this country continues we could we could make you know dont squares triangles they were gonna make red squares now hopefully you're getting the the message trying to convey the best way to succeed in business is to be in business if you're reading about being in business or your thinking about being in business or you're procrastinating about being in business or your talking about being in business you're never gonna discover red squares or black boxes or whatever it is that the journey being in business will help you to uncover so my point my message in this video is the most important thing for you to do is to simply start for those of you who followed my my my history in my blog for a while you know you'll know before getting into this business in creating on income while I started a company called Iran systems back in 2001 in the beginning are green dot was we were just gonna so IT services so small businesses time and materials for send a guy out Hill picture computers and will charge you I'll like 70 or 80 bucks an hour and I was so ill-informed or so naive about business back then that I had no idea what a or business that was going to turn into being and we struggle with our green dots and we make any monies matter we lost a lot of money on a lot in the first years when we struggle with a green dot for about six months and then thankfully and I don't remember I I guess I just started to pay attention to the competition somebody told me to pay attention to competition I discover that there was a better way to deliver our services first ball and that discovery only happened when we were in a competitive situation for an account and we were told that we were gonna lose and in a course that was really disappointing because it was gonna be we were pitching we're gonna show I think for like happy per week and charge the client like a her dollars a month because we really want to get that regular monthly fee cuz you know having continuity in your business steady cash what makes life a lot easier the other company which ironically enough is no longer in business today with it that's cuz they were a doc column is two days he said alright you guys 1ba your Yorkshire I'll give you two days and so he'd think we told you this other company was we went to the company's website discovered what they were using and with some software we've never heard of and it was produced by Cisco I believe a Cisco anyway we call them up and we give more bleeding heart story and so we have no money can you give us the software like on a monthly pay and they they did we call the customer back and said okay what we've got all that fancy delivered on the internet stuff too and we're gonna do it for 20 20 or 25 percent less than the other company and he said all right you got the deal and that was the very first customer that we had with our new Red Dot because we really weren't so on the same thing anymore and and business continued to pick up over time cuz as we went further and further into that business we figured out that we could add backup services that we can add security services server monitoring all 5 Branding Mistakes That Could Ruin Your Business | Two Minute Tuesdays

Hi, everybody! My name's Matt, and I'm the Marketing Communications Manager here at Volusion. Welcome to Two Minute Tuesdays, where we give you two minutes of ecommerce advice to bolster your online success. When it comes to telling the story of your business, branding is the name of the game. And while we could talk about things that you could be doing right, it's sometimes a lot more fun to talk about what you could be doing wrong. So pay close attention, because today I've got five branding mistakes that could ruin your business. Firstly, and most obviously, being insensitive is a huge mistake. Make sure you're always being politically correct whenever you're talking to customers, whether in person, on the phone, through your website or on your social channels. The last thing you need as a small business owner is a PR crisis on your hands. Instead, always be sensitive and always be aware of what you're saying and who you're talking to. Big mistake number two: making brazen changes to your brand or product. Let's never forget about New Coke back in the '80s, when everyone freaked out. In other words, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And if you do have big changes, make sure that you communicate those ahead of time to your customers. Third mistake on our list: being inconsistent between your channels. Remember, your brand is a story, and that story must be told the same way every time that you tell it. In other words, make sure that your design, your tone, the way you speak and other brand elements are 100% consistent across channels, that way people know exactly who you are, wherever you are. Fourthly, don't ignore the follow-up. In other words, if you're branding, branding, branding from the front end, and then someone makes a purchase and you don't keep in contact by extending your brand wholesale, you're missing out on a big opportunity, and that will definitely hurt your business in the long term. And last, but definitely not least, one of the biggest mistakes you can make is branding without sincerity. People have direct access to your business, especially in this day of social media, so you want to make sure that you're as sincere as possible. That means you should always try to be honest, and never try to hide something. Hiding things will just get you in the end. Keeping these five fails in mind whenever you're developing your branding and you'll definitely minimize the risk of you upsetting some customers and, more importantly, put your business's best foot forward. Have any questions? Leave me a comment in the box below and I'll get right back to you. From me to you, happy selling!
